Finned tube heat exchanger have tubes with extended outer surface or fins to enhance the heat transfer rate from the additional area of fins. Finned tubes with extended outer surface area enhance the heat transfer rate by increasing the effective heat transfer area between the tubes and surrounding fluids. In a finned tube type, heat is exchanged between a thermally efficient fluid that transfer heat efficient, such as liquid which has some viscosity and a fluid that does not such as air or gas with little density on the air side the tube surface is enhanced by the addition of fins or other elements such as looped wires, spiral rounds or square fins. This type is also suitable for high flow with small area to have it cost effective, low pressure drop and long life. One of the best things about this is that both mediums (liquid or air) can be used in process after completing heat transfer. This type of exchangers are used for both cooling and heating.
